Is this the year McDavid hits 50? 🚨
Plus, Jakob Silfverberg with an epic snipe on his own net, and are the Ottawa Senators for sale?!

It was a busy night in the NHL with 12 games on the docket that didn't disappoint, with 3 ending in overtime, 1 in a shootout, and 2 others won by a 1-goal margin.

Is this the year Connor McDavid hits 50 goals? Or better yet, wins the Richard Trophy?!
Connor McDavid is no stranger to leading the National Hockey League in points, having won the Art Ross Trophy 4 of the past 6 seasons... but could this be the year he scores 50 goals, or better yet, takes home the Rocket Richard Trophy too?!
While the superstar is most known for the blazing speed of his hands and feet and his uncanny ability to stickhandle through a team of defenders, it's clear McDavid devoted much of his off-season to becoming a more dangerous scorer.
He discussed just that earlier this year during a taping of the 32 Thoughts podcast in Las Vegas where McDavid said he studied video, particularly of Auston Matthews and the variety of ways he scores goals.
“Scoring goals is the hardest thing to do in this league, so it’s a pretty good thing to focus on. Definitely can be a little more selfish.”
Considering McDavid already has 11 tucks through just 10 games this season, simply hitting the 50-goal mark sounds like a given at this point, assuming he remains healthy.
Of course, the much bigger question is will McDavid and the Oilers finally make a deep playoff run... but it's early November so we'll leave that debate for a future newsletter.
But what do you think...

TRIVIA: Everyone knows Wayne Gretzky is the NHL's all-time leader in points but can you name the rest of the top 5 in order? Give yourself an extra pat on the back if you can guess their point totals +/- 15 (answer at the bottom)
CAN'T MISS
🚫 While trying to strip Timo Meier from the puck, Jakob Silfverberg ended up sniping his own net last night. Unlike the typical own goal off a deflection or attempting to clear a rebound in the crease, Silfverberg unleashed a snapshot from the top of the circles, beating netminder Anthony Stolarz to the blocker side. Has to be the easiest goal of Timo Meier's career.
🤑 Rumor has it the Ottawa Senators are for sale. According to multiple reports, Sens' ownership has hired New York-based investment bank, Galatioto Sports Partners, to sell the franchise. According to Sportico's recent NHL valuations, the Senators are worth $655 million... Just in case you're interested in buying the 27th most valuable NHL franchise.
