Marner, Robertson Point Streaks on Line When Leafs Play Stars Tonight

Tuesday night’s top NHL story is a tale of two point streaks. No worst of times. Just the best of times.
With the league experiencing increased scoring, Toronto Maple Leafs winger Mitch Marner boasts a 19-game point scoring streak. Meanwhile, Dallas Stars standout Jason Robertson has fashioned an 18-game streak.
Marner’s Maple Leafs and Robertson’s Stars play each other tonight in Dallas. The Maple Leafs (15-5-6) are the NHL’s fourth-best team and the Central Division-leading Stars (14-6-5) are sixth.
This is the first time in NHL history that two players with streaks of 18 or more games are facing each other in a game.
Per NHL Stats:
There has NEVER been a game where two players riding point streaks of 18+ games face each other.
Mitch Marner has a 19-game streak.
Jason Robertson has an 18-game streak.Leafs vs. Stars tomorrow night.

When Marner’s streak hit 19, he established a new Maple Leafs’ record, breaking the previous mark set by Darryl Sittler and tied by Eddie Olczyk. Robertson still needs to extend his two more games to tie the Stars’ franchise mark of 20, set by Brian Bellows in 1985-86 when the franchise was located in Minnesota.
In terms of production, Robertson’s streak has the bigger ‘wow’ factor. He netted 21 goals and added 13 assists for 34 points in those 18 games. Marner’s streak has been built on nine goals and 17 assists for 26 points.
Robertson’s brother, Nick, plays for the Maple Leafs. Hence, the Maple Leafs probably know more about him than they normally would.
“Pucks find (Jason Robertson) at an incredible rate, which speaks to the intelligence he plays with,” Maple Leafs coach Sheldon Keefe said. “He’s an incredibly smart player with great hands.”
In Jason Robertson’s young career, he has scored against all but six NHL teams. The Maple Leafs are one of the teams that have held him without a goal. He has three assists in four career games against the Maple Leafs.
Marner boasts two goals and 14 assists for 16 points in 11 career games vs. Dallas
Even if both players extend their streak, they have a long way to go to flirt with the NHL record for points streaks: Wayne Gretzky’s streak of 51 games has stood as the league mark since 1983-84. Mario Lemieux had a 46-game streak in 1989-90.

❌ The Boston Bruins' record streak of home wins to starts a season (14) comes to an end. The game also marked Bruce Cassidy's first back in Boston, where he received a standing ovation.
👆 The Seattle Kraken recall Shane Wright back up to the National League. Wright collected four goals in his five-game AHL stint before being recalled Monday. Seattle's head coach Dave Hakstol says Wright will be in the Kraken's lineup Tuesday against the Montreal Canadiens. Wright can play in up to two more NHL games this season before burning the first year of his entry-level contract.
