Good morning and happy Friday, January 13th.

Props to our readers who predicted Nikita Kucherov or Kirill Kaprizov would record the most points in yesterday's poll. Their two points each topped Panarin (1), Pastrnak (0), and Nylander (0) last night.

Have a great weekend, hockey fam! 🍻

Kraken Pin First Home Regulation Loss on Boston Bruins

Sailors in the 1700s often told tall tales about a mythical sea monster called a kraken that terrorized ships on ocean voyages.

Today, the Seattle Kraken are creating havoc for many NHL opponents. Only in this case, the danger is real.

The Boston Bruins are the latest NHL team to be victimized by the Kraken. Seattle goalie Martin Jones posted 27 saves to down the Bruins 3-0 for their first regulation loss of the season. The Bruins were 19-0-3 in Boston before Kraken took them down.

The Kraken have been a menace on the road all season. They are currently on a seven-game winning streak, and six of those victories are road wins. The Kraken wrap up their current road trip with a game Saturday in Chicago.

“It’s been fun,” Seattle’s Jordan Ebele said. “This has been a long road trip. It’s made it easier (because) we’ve swept so far. We’re a close-knit group. We have fun. We win together. I don’t think there’s anyone in that locker room that cares about the acknowledgment. It’s a team mentality.”

Seattle’s 15-3-2 road record is a primary reason why the Kraken (25-12-4) are only four points out of first place in the Pacific Division. The second-year expansion team is the league’s eighth-best team based on its .659 winning percentage. They are only two points behind the Los Angeles Kings for second place in the Pacific and have four games in hand.

The Kraken are the first NHL team to win the first six games of a road trip since the San Jose Sharks did it during the 2015-16 season.

The shutout was the second in a row for Jones. He beat the Montreal Canadiens 4-0 last Monday night. Jones is the first Seattle goalie to accomplish that feat. The last time Jones went back-to-back with shutouts was 2015-16 when he was playing for the San Jose Sharks.

CAN'T MISS

🍾 Rangers' K'Andre Miller tied it with one second left to force OT with Dallas. And Rangers' Norris-winning defenseman Adam Fox scored 1:16 into overtime (watch both goals here) to secure the the 2-1 comeback win over the Stars last night — the Rangers' second consecutive comeback victory. Igor Shesterkin collected his 20th win of the season while making 24 saves. The Rangers have points in seven straight games.

🌀 Frederik Andersen made 21 saves in his return, helping the Hurricanes end their 4-game losing streak. The 33-year-old netminder hasn't played since November 6th, missing 29 games with a lower-body injury. According to 'Canes head coach Rod Brind'Amour, Andersen looked "steady" and "like he hadn't missed a beat" in the Hurricanes 6-2 defeat over the Blue Jackets. Unfortunately, Andersen's comeback performance couldn't prevent Max Pacioretty from suffering a lower-body injury in the first period in just his 4th game since returning from an offseason achilles injury.
