Will Leafs' defenseman Jake Muzzin ever play again?
HHOF welcomes class of 2022, Huberdeau scores 200th goal in return, and more.

Good morning and happy Tuesday, November 15th. Light night of NHL action but still plenty to cover. Let's get you caught up 👊

Will Leafs' defenseman Jake Muzzin ever play again?
For some players, the end of their NHL career is a gradual process that unfolds over the course of many years. For Jake Muzzin, it might have come much sooner than anyone could have anticipated.
The veteran defenseman has been limited to just four games this season and has been ruled out indefinitely and placed on long-term injured reserve due to a cervical spine injury.
“We have to do what's right for his long-term health. He’s a father of two young children and husband, and we have to make sure that we're doing right by him,” Kyle Dubas says. “As important as he is to us as a player, his health is paramount."
Muzzin is no stranger to injuries as the steady defenseman was limited to only 47 games last season due to multiple concussions. Not to mention he was stretchered off the ice after an awkward collision near the end of Game 2 of the 2020 bubble best-of-five playoff qualifying series against the Columbus Blue Jackets.
And the Maple Leafs including Morgan Reilly, recognize the hole Muzzin leaves in the Leafs' dressing room and lineup.
“There's a void there just as much as there is on the ice,” Morgan Rielly says. “On the plane, he's our guy in poker. He's just a big part of our group — on the road, on the plane, in the room, on the ice. So it's on our guys now to accept more responsibility to step up. And realize that there's a gap there without him, and we got to make sure that we fill it.”
Jake Muzzin will have his injury re-evaluated in February when we hope to have positive news to report. 🙏
