Ten Players Who Could Move Before NHL Trade Deadline

As of today, 45 shopping days remain before the NHL’s March 3 trade deadline. That day will seem like Christmas for several contenders. Here are the hottest gift ideas:
1. Center Bo Horvat, Vancouver Canucks: He is a leader, an elite defensive forward and he has 30 goals. He’s a perfect fit for an Avalanche team trying to win two Stanley Cups in a row.
2. Defenseman Jacob Chychrun, Arizona Coyotes: The Coyotes continue to ask for both the moon and the stars. They haven’t lowered their asking price. But someone may pay it because big, well-rounded D men are difficult to find. He has two more seasons left on his contract.
3. Right wing Timo Meier, San Jose Sharks: Considerable interest around the NHL. The Sharks don’t have to trade him. He will be a RFA this summer. But he’s exactly what the New York Islanders want.
4. Defenseman John Klingberg, Anaheim Ducks: Teams always need puck-moving defensemen. He could work for the surprisingly potent Seattle Kraken offense.
5. Right wing Patrick Kane, Chicago Blackhawks: He’s been hurt, production is down, but he’s still Patrick Kane, an elite, highly skilled player. The New York Rangers are still interested.
6. Right wing Brock Boeser, Vancouver Canucks: Has two seasons remaining on a deal paying him $6.5 million. The price and term are reasonable.
7. Defenseman Shayne Gostisbehere, Arizona Coyotes: Like Klingberg, he has defensive flaws. But he is a dynamic puck mover. Won’t cost too much.
8. Center Jonathan Toews, Chicago Blackhawks: Three-time Cup winner, exceptional leader. Could help a contender. Colorado’s Plan B?
9. Left wing Tyler Bertuzzi, Detroit Red Wings: If Detroit can’t re-sign him, he will be dealt. He has the grit and tenacity you want for the playoffs.
10. Goalie James Reimer, San Jose Sharks: His experience will come cheaply.
Wild Card: Defenseman Erik Karlsson: Many teams want him, but who can afford to take even half of his $11.5 million contract for four more seasons.

📚 Seattle Kraken create NHL history, sweeping their 13-day road trip of seven games. Thanks to scoring six goals on their first seven shots, the Seattle Kraken cruised to an 8-5 victory over the Chicago Blackhawks Saturday night at the United Center to sweep their seven-game road trip (an NHL record) and extend their winning streak to eight. Their eight-game winning streak is the longest in franchise history and is the second time this season the Kraken won seven consecutive games or more.
🏅 Alex Ovechkin ties Mike Gartner's record for most 30-goal seasons in NHL history. With just over two minutes to play in the first period of Saturday night's matchup against the Flyers, Ovechkin corralled a rebound off Trevor van Riemsdyk's point shot and tied the game at one on his second backhand attempt (watch the goal here) for his 30th goal of the season. Ovi has scored at least 30 goals in all but one of his 18 NHL seasons (he scored 24 in 45 games in '20-'21 COVID shortened season), tying Hall of Famer Mike Gartner's long standing record.
