Bruins’ Home Point Streak Reaches 19 games
Kyrou's 1st NHL hat trick helps Blues win 4th straight, Cam Atkinson's season ends before it starts, and more.
Good morning and happy Tuesday, December 20th.
Congrats to all of our readers who predicted the Buffalo Sabres would beat the Vegas Golden Knights in yesterday's poll.
Jack Eichel wasn't able to register another hat trick against his former team as he remains on the IR with a lower-body injury. But Alex Tuch and Peyton Krebs each recorded an assist in their first game back in Vegas since being part of the Eichel trade package.
Bruins’ Home Point Streak Reaches 19 games

The Boston Bruins started this NHL season billed as a team of uncertainty. Brad Marchand and Charlie McAvoy were injured. Patrice Bergeron was 37. The team had replaced coach Bruce Cassidy with Jim Montgomery. David Krejci was returning to the NHL at age 36 after a season in the Czech League. Who knew how these factors would play out?
There seemed to be a reasonable possibility that the Bruins could start slowly.
Instead, the Bruins are enjoying the league’s best start. Ten weeks into the season, the Bruins are the NHL’s No. 1 team and own a 19-game home points streak.
The Bruins have played 19 home games and haven’t lost once in regulation. That’s two games short of half of their home schedule.. They raised their home record to 17-0-2 Monday by hammering the Atlantic Division rival Florida Panthers, 7-3.
Ageless Bergeron put up four points on two goals and two assists. He has 26 points in 31 games and he’s only fourth on the team’s scoring list. Teammate David Pastrnak is sixth in the league scoring race with 43 points in 31. Taylor Hall boasts 27 points, and Marchand owns 26 points in 23 games since coming back from injury.
Bergeron and Marchand were involved statistically in three Bruins tallies against the Panthers. They have worked together on a goal 392 times in their Boston career. The only active players with more instances of working together on a goal are Washington’s Alex Ovechkin and Nicklas Backstrom. They are at 499.
How dominant have the Bruins been this season? Their goal differential is +54. The New Jersey Devils are second at +30. Only four of the remaining 30 teams have a goal-differential above +20.
TRIVIA: Yesterday we reported Patrick Kane and Jonathan Toews were the 11th pair of teammates to play 1,000 NHL games together. But what pair of teammates hold the NHL's all-time record for most games played together?
CAN'T MISS
🔥 Jordan Kyrou keeps hot hand recording first NHL hat trick (watch here) in 5-1 win over the Canucks last night. With two goals in the third period to secure the hat trick, Kyrou has six goals in three games and ten points in the last four. Vladimir Tarasenko added three assists last night as the Blues won their fourth straight and fifth time in seven games.
🎬 That's a wrap on Cam Atkinson's season. The 33-year-old forward has been listed week-to-week with an upper-body injury since September 25. On December 3, Atkinson announced he had been cleared for contact and felt he was close to making his season debut but despite months of rehab, Atkinson will have neck surgery Wednesday, forcing him to miss the rest of the season.
